Bold art enlivens Wintergarden
International design Due Craig & Karl transform Wintergarden into a spectacle of colour!
Wintergarden has come alive with a burst of colour, as bold and vibrant artworks transform Queen Street Mall into captivating displays.
Titled “Supafun”, these playful pieces are the creation of international design duo, Craig & Karl, who are the embodiment of true digital nomads and collaborate remotely from their bases in New York and London. Working across various disciplines, including design, illustration and installation, their work is bold and playful, rooted in an evolving exploration of colour, pattern, shape and texture.
Originally heralding from Brisbane and having exhibited internationally, their projects carry a signature message of optimism and humour.
“A lot of our work is about affecting the viewer’s mood. We want people to see our work and feel happy, creating a sense of joy. Whether it’s through the content of the work or simply through the combination of colour and pattern, we also incorporate humor. We use all of these elements to enhance the overall story we’re creating”
Craig & Karl have exhibited around the world, including at Times Square and the Musée de la Publicité in Paris. For Wintergarden they have designed a series of bespoke pieces for that incorporate a range of local references.
“Using the triangular design of the historic Regent Theatre ceiling as a reference, we’ve woven our interpretations of Brisbane’s cultural events, environment and geography into our artwork. The bold, bright colours reflect both our time in Brisbane and the vibrancy of the city and its people.”
If you have a keen eye, you can spot the Story Bridge, the Brisbane River and some of our local flora celebrated in the colourful windows.
This exhibition has been curated and produced in collaboration with ART AID and together, we’re excited to bring these remarkable works to Wintergarden, inviting everyone to experience the joy and creativity they embody.
