Beach To Bar

The ideal beach-to-bar look is one made up entirely of stylish and versatile pieces that are small enough to tuck into your beach bag to be later pulled on over an almost dry bathing suit.

The sun is out, and the days are hot. Nothing screams’ summer’ more than a day at the beach, and what better way to finish off a day of sand and sun than with a cocktail? Just not in the wet bikini. Packing for two opposite ‘events’ in one tote bag means thinking smarter, not harder.

Like our favourite 5 pm cocktail, we all know the recipe for a perfect beach day: swimwear, sunnies, sunscreen, hat, and towel; but have you nailed your perfect beach-to-bar look? Don’t worry. The ingredients are listed below.

The perfect beach-to-bar look is made entirely of stylish and versatile pieces that are small enough to tuck into your beach bag to be later pulled over an almost dry bathing suit. It’s more put-together than your traditional kaftan and flip-flops but embraces the idea of effortless chic.

The linen wrap skirt is the one wardrobe piece I will always have on hand in case I need a post-surf cocktail. My go-to this summer has been the Seed LinenWrap Sarong, in the perfect shade of beige, which means it will match anything you pair it with. I have always been a lover of swimwear as clothing, so if you’ve never tried it before, your beach-to-bar look is the one to try it with. I’ve stocked up on the best new swimmers in store at H&M recently and have been living in them. The white one-shoulder full piece is the perfect bodysuit-like ‘top’, whereas my new lemon-yellow bikini mimics the crop-top trend, and I’m here for it.

Your beach tote should abide by one rule: to have a Mary Poppins-esque, almost endless capacity for all things beach (and bar). My tip is to use a small clutch bag inside your tote to keep your necessities, like wallet, phone, and lipstick, sand-free during the day. When the clock hits 5 pm, ditch your tote in the car, pop on a lippy, and bring this straw feature bag out solo.

Jewellery is the quickest (and lightest) way to dress up a beach look; a chunky chain is unfussy, works with any getaway style, and, luckily, suits almost all necklines. From a lemon yellow bikini top to a one-shoulder statement full piece, any look is made better with a touch of gold; bonus, it takes up approximately zero space in your beach bag.

A classic sandal shape is cocktail hour-ready with the addition of a novelty-sized chunky chain design. Sleek, simple and, most importantly, easy to slip on. If you need a little more height or to make a little more of a statement, this lime green heel is your new wardrobe best friend.

Now, pack your bag, and head out for the most epic day of sun and sand (and sip the night away)
