How to wear denim when it’s hotter than hot?

You’re every woman’s best friend and any must-have wardrobes staple.  Versatile, effortless and always on-trend.  Denim, what would we do without you?

Although it’s heating up as we move into our spring-summer months, it doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to your denim obsession!

When it comes to denim trends and outfit styling, the options are virtually endless.  From jeans to shorts and skirts, dresses and jackets, there is no excuse for not wearing this absolute staple fabric all year round… I know I will be!

Coming out of those heavy layering winter months, it is essential to take a fresh take on those denim staples – think lightly toned types of denim and simple, crisp pairings when styling.

First of all, jeans in summer is a necessity!  But how do you wear them when it’s hotter than hot outside?

Make sure to stick to cuts such as your mom jean, boyfriend cut or straight leg.  This will give the effect and feeling of long jeans whilst allowing those legs to breathe still.  Keep it laid back with a crisp white t-shirt and slide, or take this look into the night with a pump and white blouse.  I also love the sneaker trend, so for those ladies always on the run like me, denim is your best friend here too.

For those balmy nights and overcast days, don’t forget about denim jackets!  Double denim is always on trend for me, so feel free to grab that oversized denim jacket and pop it over your shoulders just in case!

If you’re more of a skirt and dress kind of woman or are looking for something a little bit more feminine, denim can still be an option for you!  Design for denim dresses and skirts have come so far in the past few years, and the range of cuts and lengths are endless! I strongly encourage you to go out and invest time and money in a piece!

I love that midi length this season as it is so versatile in where and how you wear it.  Again, white is your best friend here to keep it crisp and fresh in those warmer temperatures.

Also, try experimenting with neutral summer tones in accessories.  At the moment, I am gravitating towards bags and shoes with textures like raffia and canvas.  This hints at the coastal freshness and ease that summer brings.

Don’t forget, denim is your best friend this season… and every season!
